The idea of “Home” can mean different things to different people.  For some, it refers to a particular place and time in their memory.  For others, “Home” is something that changes with them as their needs evolve. Whatever your perspective, “Home” is a powerful symbol that resonates with the deepest levels of our consciousness. So, what is a home, and how do we make one?

In this workshop, you will be invited to develop your creative awareness of what “Home” means to you.

You will be encouraged to re-evaluate what you put into your home, and to identify what you expect your home to do for you.

You will be taken on a creative journey,

  • to explore your memories and dreams of home,
  • to deepen your understanding of your relationship with different homes (past and present),
  • to reflect on how you express yourself through your home,
  • and to consider how to make a new home or re-invent an existing one.

All backgrounds and levels of experience are welcome: the diversity of the workshop-group will be one of our key resources.  Numbers will be limited to encourage full participation by all present.

Bookings and information from Ken Bourke (ken (dot) bourke61 (at)  gmail.com or 086.0788704).

The Joy Cycle

January 24, 2010

The Joy Cycle is something I am really interested in, although I am still not sure what it is.  Today I am thinking that Joy is what’s left when we let go of everything else.  That begs the question: what remains when we let go of Joy?

All the World’s a Stage

November 16, 2009

All the World’s a Stage:

I’m working with Paddy McCoey on a plan for a workshop that deals with the experience of Feng Shui.

People may be familiar with the idea of Chi or Energy;
they may have read about the concepts of Yin and Yang;
they may have come across the octagonal arrangement of the

Trigrams of the Bagua
(Water, Mountain, Thunder, Wind, Fire, Earth, Lake, and Heaven),
and the cycle of the Five Transformations
(Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, and Metal).

The aim of the workshop will be to take these concepts out of the realm of books and theory, and to experience them as a practical part of everyday life.

We will do this by

  • exploring the different aspects of energy: through poetry, movement, visualisation, memory, and imagination,
  • using the world of theatre and the stage to illustrate
    the variations of energy in a space,
  • making bridges between traditional Eastern understanding
     and the heritage of Western culture, and
  • exploring the connections between our emotional processes
     and the spaces we live in.
